Qualification
1) Applicants should be currently enrolled as a degree-seeking undergraduate student in a university with an academic exchange agreement with Nagoya University.
2) Applicants should have an Intermediate or Advanced level of Japanese proficiency (JLPT N1/N2/N3 or CEFR A2/B1/B2/C1/C2).

May 30 – June 24, 2022  *The deadline has been extended. *Although Nagoya University will accept applications during this period, please confirm the internal deadline at your university for when your application should be submitted.*If the number of the participants is less than a certain number, the program will be canceled.

About the Program

Subject-Specific Classes

Depending on their academic background and interests, participants will join specialized lectures in the natural sciences or humanities

Laboratory Visits

Participants will visit online selected laboratory facilities at Nagoya University to learn about current research and they contributions to knowledge and society.

Cultural Workshops



Participants will join online workshops, conducted by specialists, showcasing Japanese traditional culture including rakugo and traditional flower arrangement.

Social Events with Nagoya University Students

Throughout the program participants will have many chances to meet and talk with Nagoya University students.


Optional Activities

Exchange Sessions

NUSTEP will organize exchange sessions between participants and Nagoya University students.

During these informal sessions, participants can share their interests with both other NUSTEP participants and Nagoya University Students. They will also learn about some of the most popular student club activities on campus.

Nagoya University Facilities Online Campus Tour

Nagoya University students will host an online tour of Nagoya University facilities, including its libraries.

Online Tour

NUSTEP office will organize online short tour to the tourist spots or the facilities outside Nagoya.

Online Home Visit

On days with no classes, participants can join the online home visit program. Participants will speak with a Japanese host family to learn about people's daily lives and customs.
